There are real differences between booking for two and booking for five or more. What a family with children needs to confirm before reserving:
Proper beds, not camp cots. At least two bedrooms with full-size beds. For families with older children (twelve and up), having their own room changes the entire dynamic of the holiday.
A kitchen equipped for cooking seriously. Not a two-ring hob and a microwave. The best properties in the catalogue have four- to six-burner ranges, ovens, dishwashers and enough worktop to prepare breakfast for five people without anyone getting in the way.
A pool or garden with real space. A four-metre pool in a twenty-square-metre courtyard does not count. The properties in this guide have gardens or terraces where children have room to move without being constantly on top of the adults.

Finca Casa Nanita, whole estate (GC0000) — All three cottages together: 12 guests in Fontanales, with the pool to yourselves
When the family does not fit in one house, Finca Casa Nanita as a whole solves it without splitting the group: the three cottages are let together as a single property, on a 20,000 m² estate with gardens and fruit trees, 2 km from Fontanales (Villa de Moya).
12 guests in four double bedrooms plus a loft room, and four shower rooms. Each cottage keeps its own kitchen and its own character: one has a bedroom carved into the rock, a genuine cave house; another has a balcony, covered terrace and barbecue; the third a terrace with an outdoor dining area. Villa Carmen (GC0280) — Heated pool in the south, sleeps 7
Villa Carmen is in El Sao, Mogán, eleven kilometres from Arguineguín beach. It has something very few properties in the catalogue can offer: a private heated pool, which makes it especially well suited to autumn breaks (October–November) when unheated water is too cool for children.
3 bedrooms, air conditioning, fireplace, barbecue, dishwasher, washing machine. A villa with everything a family needs for a full week without having to leave the property if they choose not to. Villa Carmen’s heated pool also means it is the most reliable all-weather choice in the catalogue.

Best time of year for families
Summer (July–August): Peak season, highest prices, perfect pools. The south reaches 27–30°C. The interior is cooler (22–25°C). Book 3–5 months ahead for the larger properties.
Easter holidays: The island is quieter than in August. Perfect temperatures (20–24°C). Villa Carmen, the Mogán villa with a heated pool, is the best call.
Early July: Families who can choose their dates tend to travel in the first or second week of July — before August crowds arrive and while prices are still reasonable.
Christmas and New Year: Gran Canaria works well in winter for families escaping northern European cold. Fireplaces, sunny days and heated pools.
