Getting to La Palma from the UK and Ireland
La Palma Airport (SPC) now has direct flights from the UK: Jet2 flies Manchester–La Palma twice weekly year-round, and adds a London Stansted route from late October 2026. If your dates or airport do not match, connect via Tenerife South or Gran Canaria with Binter Canarias — a short hop.
Check connection times when booking — the island’s relatively quiet airport makes transit smooth, and the extra hour spent connecting via Tenerife or Gran Canaria is well worth it for the type of holiday La Palma offers.
Hiring a car is essential. La Palma’s mountain roads require confidence behind the wheel, but all properties in the catalogue are accessible by normal car. Book ahead — vehicle availability on the island is more limited than in Gran Canaria.
Best time to rent a pool cottage in La Palma
Spring (March–May): The most beautiful season for the landscape. The paths through the Caldera de Taburiente are green, the Puntagorda almond trees have already blossomed in February and the valley temperatures are ideal (18–23°C). Pool water can be brisk in March — from April it is comfortable.
Summer (June–August): Ideal temperatures across the north and interior (22–26°C). The south and valleys are warmer. Peak season — book well ahead.
Autumn (September–November): The sea is at its warmest of the year. Settled, mild weather. Fewer visitors than summer. The best season for having the island largely to yourselves.
Winter (December–February): La Palma has marked microclimates. In the south (Fuencaliente) and the west coast (Tazacorte), sunny days are normal even in January. In the north and higher zones, expect cooler, wetter weather.

Is it safe to visit La Palma after the 2021 eruption?
Completely. The area affected by the 2021 Tajogaite eruption (Cumbre Vieja) is a specific, well-defined zone on the island’s western slope, and none of the properties in the catalogue was damaged. The volcanic zone is now an established tourist attraction. The rest of the island is entirely unaffected and perfectly safe.
Do the properties have heating?
The Puntagorda properties do — this is a higher-altitude area where winter nights can be cool. LP1181 and LP1184 have wood-burning stoves. Confirm at the time of booking for each specific property.
